I managed to track down some good flag images so I've now added  Dutch, Greek and Russian translations of Connected Internet, taking the total number of languages up to 12  It'll be interesting to see how many more visitors I get as a result.

Sometimes when you're blogging it can be easy to get so carried away with putting up loads of posts, that you forget that the main way that people find your posts is via search engines.

This Guide To Title Tags is very well written and stresses the importance of getting your tags right, if you want to feature highly in search engines.  Definitely worth taking ten minutes to read.

I think nearly all of these apply to me!

Juicy Studio'sReadability Test measures the readability of websites just be simply entering a url.  It calculates the Gunning Fog Index and the Flesch-Kincaid Grade for the site, which are supposed to tell you how much schooling a personneeds before they'll be able to understand what you've written. 

It also calculates the Flesch Reading Ease which measures how easy it is to read a document.  Below are the results for www.connectedinternet.co.uk:

I've read lots of articles on SEO but none of the changes that I've made have had same impact on my CTR as implementing Section Targetting.  I added Section Targetting two days ago based on the advice of Matt Cutts from Google and already my CTR rates are up 50%.  It will take a while for Google to re-index all of my pages so I estimate that the overall effect will be to double my CTR.

Section targeting allows you to suggest sections of your text andHTML content that you'd like Google to emphasise or downplay when matchingads to your site's content.

Finally some SEO advice that can be validated.  There are so many 'experts' on the subject of SEO that I'm never sure if changes I've made are having a positive or negative effect on my rankings.

Well, these tips are definitely bankers as they came out in an interview Matt Cutts, a senior Google engineer did with Performancing.

The tips he gave on how to optimise traffic are all very useful:

- Take the time to read Google's webmaster guidelines
- Don't bother with year/month/day in blog urls; Just use the first few words from the title of the post in the url
- Don't try to rank for a huge phrase at first - pick a smaller niche and get to beknown as an expert there, and ...

What RSS reader do you use?  I've reduced the number of feeds that I read to a more manageable 99, but I'm still in the market for a better way to read these feeds.  If you are interested in whatfeeds I track, I've uploaded my OPML which you can download below.

I currently use Google Reader on my PC (it's also my homepage) as I find that it's the fastest because it loads the stories in the background while I'm browsing through the stories, and I just love the Ajax interface. 

On my mobile I currently use FreeNews.  I reviewed FreeNews  way back in July so I'm sure there must be better or alternative services on the market by now.
