BMW.de Banned From Google For Using 'Doorway Pages'
Wow, Google really don't like their listings being 'abused'. Google discovered that BMW Germany had been using 'Doorway Pages', pages which are stuffed full of keywords that thesite feels a need to be optimized for; however, as opposed to realpages, this doorway is only displayed to the Googlebot. Human visitorswill be immediately redirected to another page upon visit.
When Google discovered this they reduced BMW.de's Page Rank down to 0, which means that no BMW.de pages will appear near the top of listings.
I wonder sometimes though, whether Google is playing fair in all this. When is a SEO technique acceptable? The aim of all SEO is to get higher rankings - I don't think that banning people because you don't like some SEO methods, but then ...
Double AdSense CTR - Use Section Targetting
I've read lots of articles on SEO but none of the changes that I've made have had same impact on my CTR as implementing Section Targetting. I added Section Targetting two days ago based on the advice of Matt Cutts from Google and already my CTR rates are up 50%. It will take a while for Google to re-index all of my pages so I estimate that the overall effect will be to double my CTR.
Section targeting allows you to suggest sections of your text andHTML content that you'd like Google to emphasise or downplay when matchingads to your site's content.

Finally some SEO advice that can be validated. There are so many 'experts' on the subject of SEO that I'm never sure if changes I've made are having a positive or negative effect on my rankings.
